Praise Him for every Season
Every season comes in on the wind of change. Sometimes it is familiar and sometimes it seems foreign, but with each new breath and change of season comes potential. The Apostle Paul told the church at Thessalonica, "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (I Thessalonians 5:18) So by this he is telling us that no matter the circumstance or season there is always potential for praise.
You know, I will be honest (pastors should probably be honest shouldn't they?). The past few years I have not really looked forward to the holiday season with great joy. For me it has been a very busy time with lots to do and little time to accomplish all that is calling for my attention. That is not really a recipe for blissful repose. This year seems different. This year I have felt increasingly impressed upon by the Lord to look for Him in this season and respond with praise and joy. I have felt His tug and gentle nudging to truly rest in Him and enjoy my family (even the ones who take a little more grace).
If I am being really honest, I have felt this gentle nudge in the past but chose to ignore the Holy Spirit (maybe I am one of those extra-grace-required people!). However, this year I have purposed in my heart to see the Lord in this season and respond with what He is eternally worthy of, my praise and adoration.
Every season comes with potential. How will you respond?
Blessings in Christ,
